What Is Fight, Flight, Or Freeze?

 

Fight 

As humans, we can all fight given the right circumstances and motivation. The example of the woman who said that she could never use violence, who suddenly changed into a fierce warrior the moment that someone threatened to rape her child.


Flight

Running away is a great tactic and should be a high priority if it's possible to do so.



Freeze

Freezing is very dangerous because if you freeze the attacker or predator can do what they want and this falls into their trap because you may become too frightened to react at all or do anything.  

Training to "unfreeze" is vital, think about making an important speech in public and how it feels. These are the feelings that may come to the surface when under attack. Freeze, being very frightened so learn to turn fear into POWER and fight back.

 Recognize these feelings and learn to deal with them, FEEL the FEAR, accept it and use it to turn it into your POWER.

Use your inbuilt instincts to anticipate trouble and avoid it if at all possible. We are all experts in predicting violence so switch on and be aware as both animals and humans all give out signals that they are ready to attack. Have you ever been confronted by a vicious dog snarling, ears back,  crouched,  ready to pounce, or by a sneaky guy trying to blindside or distract you to mug you?

The only 100% success rate for a street assault is not to be out-thought or caught out in a bad position or place" 

To be successful you need to be able to anticipate, avoid or escape from an assault and to fight back fiercely and immediately in an emergency.  However, don't be the cause of violence as you just don't know what will happen to you.

The most important thing is to survive and get home safely. The self-defense skills presented here are designed to be easy to remember and are practical. They are not fancy or superficial as these are only for the entertainment industry and movies.

I will be honest with you and teach you short sharp skills that can be linked together in simple building blocks and will work from day one. However, it's not magic and you have to put some effort and a bit of sweat into learning and maintaining the skills otherwise they will degrade. 

Again I would emphasize that it's a winning mentality that will help you to survive a street assault, not complex martial arts techniques. A winning mindset makes up about 70 or 80% of what you need and the physical skills approximately 20%.
